To provide health services to the people of Mukhed village, a Primary Health Center (PHC) has been established.

What is Rural Health Service?

Rural health service is a healthcare system designed to provide accessible, affordable, and quality health services to the rural population. It focuses on:

  • Preventive care and treatment
  • Health education
  • Family planning
  • Maternal and child health

To strengthen healthcare in rural areas, the Government of India has launched the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

Main Objectives

  • To provide accessible and affordable health services to all citizens in rural areas, especially the poor and vulnerable groups.
    • To expand preventive and curative healthcare services.
    • To reduce maternal and child mortality rates.
    • To address the shortage of healthcare workers in rural areas and provide them with proper training.
    • To promote public health facilities such as sanitation, family planning, and immunization.

Types of Services

  1. Primary Health Center (PHC):
    This is the key unit of rural healthcare that provides primary-level treatment and medical services to the public.
  2. Village Health and Nutrition Day (VHND):
    On these days, health workers interact with villagers to provide them with basic healthcare services and information.
  3. Health Education:
    People are guided about hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and the proper use of healthcare facilities.

Implementation in India
